Milemarker Winch

In November 2001, I finally got a winch and installed it. I chose the milemarker hydraulic primarily because it retains the approach angle (unlike the OEM Warn Hummer winch). I purchased the winch and mounting kit from Winches Plus.

I replaced the steel cable and roller fairlead with synthetic line and a Spidertrax fairlead from Masterpull. The line is very light and safer to use than steel cable - I am very happy with it.

I recently replaced the hydraulic unit with a new E12000 electric winch from Milemarker, which fits in the milemarker Hummer mounting kit without compromising the approach angle; finding a place for the solenoid pack and mounting the fairlead were a little tricky at first, but overall the installation was quite easy.

UPDATE 6/2004:

OK, you HML guys caught me, this page is outdated... below is the current location of the pack, although I don't expect it to reside there permanently... I plan to move it to a better protected area with some heavy gauge welding cable in the future - just haven't decided where yet.

OK, so I have really been slacking! Here are some pictures from my rear winch install, as requested...
