These are pics from our August 26th NEHOG Trailride. We had 8 trucks, and it was a fun ride! (These photos are captured from VHS, so the quality of these pics are mediocre)
Everyone did a great job, we had a lot of fun and no truck damage. With Peter once again as our lead navigator, we sprawled out onto the trails... Joe Higgins BTMed up the rocky hills like he has been doing it for years. Dave P abruptly found a very large log in one mudhole, but somehow his truck didn't break into pieces when he hit it. I showed everyone how difficult it is to keep yourself, your passengers, and the interior of your truck clean while running through mud without the top or doors. Ed's commentaries on the CB about how various pedestrians and cyclists can get lodged in the suspension parts of the trucks were thoroughly entertaining; he also introduced us to the technique of TTM (Throttle and more Throttle Modulation), and demonstrated that if you don't have beadlocks, you may want to consider bringing 3 spare tires. Tony showed us that his truck can negotiate almost any obstacle, so long as the driver is not off somewhere in the woods at the time! We got everyone through or around every obstacle we encountered eventually, and at the end of the day, Bill drove home without putting his license plate back on. Did I miss anything? There is that one picture below of Dave's and Ed's trucks going in opposite directions in that mud - I forget exactly what was happening there, but it looks like they stopped while they were passing each other to say "Hi" to one another!
